The Inductor Demand In Server Power

1. The inductor usage will increase significantly as the general servers upgrade CPUs. Taking the upgrade from Eagle Stream to Birch Stream as an example, because the CPU power consumption increases by about 50%, the inductor usage increases by about 50–70%.

2. The power consumption of AI servers is generally above 1000–1200W, and the inductor usage can increase by about 100% compared with general servers at most. Due to the significant increase in power consumption, AI servers have higher inductor specifications and the ASP is about 5 times higher than that of general servers.

3. It is necessary to add additional TLVR (Trans Inductor Voltage Regulator) inductors to improve the transient response performance due to the significant increase in power consumption of AI servers. Each AI server needs 5–10 additional TLVR inductors, and the ASP of TLVR inductors is 3–5 times that of ordinary inductors.
